Rancho Santa Fe is known for luxury. And one of the best neighborhoods to find it is Whispering Palms. Often referred to as Morgan Run because of the country club that it surrounds, Whispering Palms is enjoyable and rewarding. If you’re craving upscale country living with abundant sunshine and a Mediterranean climate, then this charming community may be just what you desire.
A bit of history
Whispering Palms was one of the first golf communities in Rancho Santa Fe. In 1960, Roy Canady purchased the land that is now Whispering Palms. Five years later, an 18-hole golf course was completed, followed by a second, nine-hole course in 1973. By 1975, the country club was well on its way to becoming a popular destination and expanded to include guest rooms. In 1993, the country club changed ownership and was renamed Morgan Run.
Homes that are affordable and luxurious
One of the best things about Whispering Palms is that homeowners can enjoy the luxury and privacy that Rancho Santa Fe is known for. However, real estate is more affordable than in other neighborhoods. There are currently just over 200 single-family residences and about 350 condos and townhouses in the neighborhood. Homes are situated on .25-acre lots and are designed in a style that is consistent with the architecture throughout Rancho Santa Fe. Whispering Palms is one of the older communities in Rancho Santa Fe. But there have been several residential projects during the past few years, bringing renovations and new residents.
Premier club at its center
The shining star of the Whispering Palms community is the country club at its center, Morgan Run Club & Resort. This members-only club features a 27-hole championship golf course, a 320-yard driving range, and an 11-court tennis complex. In addition, it has a heated outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and a day spa. It also has two excellent restaurants on site. 28 West offers formal dining with a warm and welcoming ambiance — perfect for a romantic dinner. The social hub of Morgan Run is Littler Lounge. The cafe is named after Golf Hall of Fame inductee Gene Littler, where guests can enjoy casual California cuisine.
Close to all the best of Rancho Santa Fe
Residents of Whispering Palms don’t need to travel far from the community to enjoy luxury amenities. Spend an afternoon in The Village where you’ll find a wonderful assortment of restaurants and cafes, boutique shopping, the community library, and the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. There are many country clubs and golf courses in the immediate area, including Del Mar Country Club, The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe, The Santaluz Club, The Farms Golf Club, and many more. It’s easy to enjoy nature at the nearby San Dieguito County Park, a 125-acre natural space that features hiking trails and picnic areas. And, of course, residents of Whispering Palms are only 20 miles away from all the culture, shopping, dining, and nightlife of downtown San Diego.
