If you have a taste for fresh produce and like to support local farmers and producers, then you need to visit the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market. Founded on May 2, 2010, The Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market was begun in order to promote local and sustainable agriculture, contribute to the success of local growers and artisanal food producers, and to serve as a community gathering place.
The market is sponsored by the Helen Woodward Animal center and co-sponsored by Archi’s Acres, who provide volunteers every Sunday to help operate the market. The market takes place every Sunday from 9am to 1:30pm in the parking lot of the Del Rayo Village Center in Rancho Santa Fe.
You can find an impressive variety of produce and products at the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market. Whether you’re looking for fresh ingredients to prepare a special meal, or the perfect gift for an upcoming birthday, you’re sure to find it at this diverse market. You’ll see everything including fresh cut flowers, oils, honeys and jams, gourmet tamales, fresh fish, grass fed meats, fresh pasta, freshly roasted coffee beans, grass fed pasteurized poultry, nuts, artisanal chocolates and of course a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs.
You’ll see lots of local vendors at the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market as well. Suncoast Farms exhibits some of the largest artichokes ever seen as well as asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and artichoke blossoms. Smit Orchards supplies some of the best organic fruits around including apples, peaches and nectarines. B Street Growers, a small local boutique grower, offers an interesting and unusual variety of lettuce and lettuce seedlings perfect for a San Diego county garden. Get fresh coffee beans from Rancho Roast Coffee, or spruce up your family table with a bouquet from Magnolia Flowers, specializing in potted plants and fresh cut flower arrangements.
The Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market also hosts weekly entertainment. Coming up this summer you’ll see Manny Cepeda, Dawn Mitschele and John West, among others. Previously seen acts include local favorites YAEL, Rodello’s Machine, and The Yes Team.
If you’d like to run errands or have brunch in the center after you shop at the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market, they’ve got you covered with their “Veggie Valet”. They will hold onto your market purchases while you shop or dine, keep your packages cool, and pass them over to you as you pull right up to the info booth on your way out!
There’s even fun activities for kids at the market! Kids will enjoy garden rock painting, planting seedlings and starts, garden pot decorating, treasure hunts, holiday crafts and more.
Want to stay green? Then ride your bike to the market! A bike valet is provided where you can park your bike while attendants watch it – no need to lock it up!
