Dog lovers gather from throughout San Diego to join together to support the Helen Woodward Animal Center surf dog event on Sunday, September 9th. A short drive from your Rancho Santa Fe home, this is your chance to see the 7th Annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon! Held to raise funds for the animals supported by the Helen Woodward Animal Center, the surfing dogs are truly a sight to behold! Families, pets, and anyone who who lives near your home in Rancho Santa Fe will be entertained and amazed at the tricks and talent displayed at this one-of-a-kind Southern California event, so be sure to spread the word.
Staggered at various times throughout the day, and starting at 8:30 a.m., dogs will compete in 20 minute heats, pre-determined by the animal’s size. Surfing dogs (and their owners) are judged based on wave riding talent and skill, as well as the ability to enjoy themselves! “Top Dogs” will be awarded prizes, too. Dogs need not surf to win prizes as a costume contest will also be had that day. Plenty of other activities will be going on as well, from a dog agility course to a variety of vendor booths, so plan on joining in the amusement of the day. Visit Surf Dog Surf-a-thon to get more details on how you and your canine can participate!
