Star-Studded "Jockey for a Cause" Event in Rancho Santa Fe July 18, 2012

If you love horse racing, celebrities and lending a helping hand than this is one event you do not want to miss!  The star-studded “Jockey for a Cause” benefit is scheduled to be held in Rancho Santa Fe on Wednesday, July 18, 2012.  This celebrity infused party will help to raise money for not one, but two charities that help disabled jockeys and others that are involved in the sport of horse racing.
This inaugural event will begin at 6pm PDT and run well into the night at the DeHaven Estate in Rancho Santa Fe, just after the opening day races at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar.
Horse owner Jeff DeHaven hosts the event – and he promises this will be the can’t miss West Coast party of the year.  Attendees will include jockeys, trainers, celebrities, professional athletes from various sports and the ranks of the elite of thoroughbred racing.
More than 2,000 people in the United States work as jockeys, and it can be one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.  Often jockeys work without health insurance, life insurance or retirement funds.  This can be tough on the jockeys and their families, and DeHaven has created this event to help make their lives easier.
The two charities benefiting from this event include The Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) and The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation, which helps jockeys and other industry professionals who may be facing financial problems.
The PDJF was created to offer long term assistance to jockeys who have become permanently injured while on the the track.  These jockeys rely on the PDJF for financial assistance, and since its inception in 2006 the PDJF has struggled to meet its financial goals and help in the day-to-day needs of those men and women they support.  The “Jockey for a Cause” event will help to provide some security for those injured jockeys so that they can continue to get the help that they need.
The other charity that will benefit, The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation, helps jockeys and other industry professionals when they are in a time of need.  This includes trainers, grooms, exercise riders, hot walkers, farm workers and front office personnel – all valuable members of this exciting industry.
The event will feature fabulous food stations and flowing wine from award winning Napa Vineyards.  There will also be six hosted bars and dazzling entertainment acts and surprise appearances.  Coffee and delicious desserts will also be served.
A limited number of tickets will be available for the event, and prices start at $100 for advance purchase.  Tickets on the day of the event will increase to $200.  Sponsorships are available from $1,000 to $100,000.  A free shuttle service to and from the event will be provided.
