Enjoy a delicious meal
For those who enjoy dining with their furry companions, you’ll be pleased to know there are several restaurants in Rancho Santa Fe that are pet-friendly. Mille Fleurs is a favorite among those who love French Californian Cuisine, while Rancho Santa Fe Bistro is the place to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner on the beautiful patio. Morada Restaurant at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe serves up delicious California cuisine from locally-sourced ingredients and welcomes dogs in their outdoor seating area. O67 is where to head when you want simple dishes in a relaxed setting, and they allow dogs at their outdoor tables.
Take a hike
When you’re ready to work off that amazing lunch, head to a nearby trail. You’ll find several in the area that allows dogs on a leash. San Elijo Lagoon Trail is an easy, three-mile hike that lets you enjoy wetlands and plenty of birds. Black Mountain Open Space Park is another great choice that provides 360-degree views at the top of the trail. You can also bring your dog to the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve, where you’ll find over 11 miles of hiking trails.
Del Mar Dog Beach
Is there anything better than running through the waves at the beach? Oh yes – being able to do that with your dog! At Del Mar North Beach (also known as Dog Beach), you can safely let your dog run off-leash from the day after Labor Day until June 15. During peak season from June 16 until Labor Day, off-leash dogs are permitted from dawn until 8am. The rest of the day the dogs are allowed on the beach, but they must be leashed.
Club Pet
Finally, it can be nerve-wracking to find a great place to board your dog while you’re out of town. Lucky for us, Club Pet at the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe is here. They operate as a home away from home for your dog, and the pets boarded here are treated like VIPs. They have a choice of accommodations, including the Webcam Suite that allows you to check on your best friend from 6am to 6pm every day. Your cherished pets are sure to get all the attention, exercise, and fun they need while they’re awaiting your return. And the best part is that all proceeds from Club Pet support the orphan pets at the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
