Rancho Santa Fe Home to Volunteer Opportunities

Rancho Santa Fe Home to Volunteer OpportunitiesIf you are looking for a way to give back and be involved in the outdoors near your Rancho Santa Fe home, you may be excited to hear that the Elijo Lagoon Conservancy will be hosting a Volunteer Open House on Saturday, September 8th, from 3 to 5 p.m. A perfect way to learn about the Docent-Naturalist program, the Open House will provide a program overview, Nature Center tour, and allow you to meet with like-minded residents who live in Rancho Santa Fe! Actual docent training will not begin until Saturday, October 2nd, and will be conducted on the following Saturdays (October 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30, November 3, 6, 13 & 27). A graduation and potluck will be held after training is completed on December 11th.
Docents are completely trained, so you don’t need any previous experience to be a volunteer and you will have the benefit of learning all about the history of the local area and needs of the ecology of the wetland preserve. Leadership training and small group instruction are other talents you can gain from these informative workshops! Each docent is asked to commit to conducting 10 mid-day or weekend walks per year.
