Rancho Santa Fe – Home to Ocean Studies!

This week on Wednesday, May 30th, the Rancho Santa Fe School District will host an Ocean Open House at the Performing Arts Center, near your Rancho Santa Fe home. The celebration honors the anniversary of twenty years of incorporating the ocean actively into students’ learning. The open house will combine ocean music with exhibits from places like Sea World, Birch Aquarium, San Diego Divers, grade level ocean habitats, ROV tank and 8th grade underwater robotics, Go Green and Green to Go, allowing you to get your fill of ocean knowledge in one night. The students who live in Rancho Santa Fe have been actively preparing for the anniversary with special presentations, field study, and activities and have a lot to share as well. In fact, the next day, Thursday, May 31st marks Ocean Share Day, a day for a school-wide activity rotation dedicated to ocean studies that will occur between 8:15 and 10:15 a.m.
Be sure to ask your child about their experience and consider attending the Closing Ceremony on Friday, June 1st to find out about all the learning that has occurred over the last twenty years and see students receive certificates of participation. The 1st grade students will delight you with their interpretation of the Tide Pool Boogie, too. It’s an event not to be missed if you have a child involved!
