On November 9th, you can volunteer to be a part of a a relief effort to help military families living overseas without traveling far from your Rancho Santa Fe home. The Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club will host their second care package drive on that day at 11 a.m., although you can drop off items for the packages or monetary donations anytime prior to that day. Suggested donations include unscented personal hygiene items, such as shampoo and soap, lotions, razors, wet-wipes and deodorants, although lip balm and bug repellant would be welcome, too. Snack items, such as granola bars, jerkies, and other high protein snacks are great ideas, also. Personal notes are welcome to be dropped off as well to encourage our troops.
You will find collection bins throughout the Village, as well as at the garden club, located at 17025 Avenida De Acacias, and library, located at 17040 Avenida De Acacias. More locations can be found at the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center at 5970 La Sendita or the Rancho Santa Fe Pharmacy at 6056 El Tordo, making it easy to help, if you live in Rancho Santa Fe. Last year’s event was memorable for all who attended and 107 personalized boxes were sent to Marines in Afghanistan. Rancho Santa Fe residents of all ages are welcome to come to the event and help fill boxes and decorate them, so if you have a few minutes to spare, stop by the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club.
