Mainly Mozart Concert in Rancho Santa Fe

Internationally-renowned German chamber music ensemble, The Mandelring Quartet will perform at the next Mainly Mozart Spotlight Chamber Music Series on Saturday, March 1, at the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club.

The ensemble’s concert tours and engagements have taken them worldwide. For Spotlight, the quartet will perform Mozart’s String Quartet No. 15 in d, K. 421, with its beautiful main melody, and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7 in f#, Op. 108. The quartet has recorded the complete Shostakovich String Quartets, which International Record Review votes as “the Shostakovich cycle of choice.” Closing the program is Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 15 in a, Op. 132, written two years before the composer’s death.

A wine and cheese reception will be held at 5 p.m., followed by the concert at 6 p.m. Tickets are $60 each.  Mainly Mozart’s 2013-2014 Spotlight Chamber Series is overseen by series curator Anne-Marie McDermott, internationally renowned piano soloist and artist of the famed Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. This series offers memorable chamber music concerts ranging from solo recitals to trios, quartets and quintets, and conversations with top artists.
