Building off the success of the past five San Diego Beer Weeks, the San Diego Brewers Guild is preparing for San Diego Beer Week 2014 (SDBW), November 7-16. San Diego Beer Week is a ten-day celebration inspiring people to drink local, craft beer and promoting San Diego’s thriving brewing culture with multiple events happening across the county.
San Diego is home to more 90 breweries and has gained an international reputation for brewing award-winning beers. The city’s breweries brought home more medals at the 2010 World Beer Cup than the traditional beer countries of England, Germany, and Belgium combined and won 20 medals at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival. With the popularity of craft beer on the rise, San Diego is poised to be the capital of craft beer tourism in the United States.
Makers Quarter begins with what matters most: community. We are collaborating with community partners to create change in an area that has been void for years. With thought, vision and innovation we are transforming Makers Quarter™ into a neighborhood San Diegans can be proud of. We believe when looking to the future, it is best to start by embracing the past while celebrating the present.
The San Diego region is defined by its tremendous beauty and thriving economy. Between the Southern California sun and cool ocean breezes, the perfect weather has attracted countless industries including: arts, telecommunications, bio-tech, maritime and many more. Makers Quarter™ has dynamic and vibrant cultural influences pouring in from every direction.
As the planning and design evolve over time, the following principles will remain at the heart of our vision: Establish, enhance and promote the linkages to San Diego’s rich culture; Create a new employment hub for downtown and the surrounding region; Create an authentic, dense and sustainable urban space; Foster a walk-able and healthy lifestyle.
