There are specific states in the U.S where residents can easily earn a decent salary on a monthly basis. Out of the 51 statistical metropolitan areas in the states, 12 have the largest average annual wage according to the data from EMSI.
On the first place we have Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown, TX. With an adjusted cost of living of approximately $66,000 per individual based on estimates made in 2011, the city is certainly powerful from the economic point of view. Positioned alongside the Gulf Coast in the state of Texas, Sugar Land is a 10-county metropolitan area. The city is part of Silicon Valley positioned and it’s the 7^th most populous metropolis in the bay area of San Francisco. Bordered by San Jose, Mountain View, Moffett Federal Airfield, Los Altos, and Santa Clara, Sunnyvale has a strong economy due to its high-tech companies like Fortinet, NetApp, Yahoo!.Applied Micro, Juniper Networks, and more.  With over 100,000 inhabitants, Sunnyvale is a city with major economic potential. Even though prices for homes are among the highest in the country, people want to live here because they have excellent living conditions, low crime rates, and well-paid jobs.
Detroit-Warren- Livonia, Michigan is the 3^rd US city with the highest income rate. The average wage is $53,000 per year. With a workforce of about 2.5 million inhabitants, the metropolitan area has transformed Michigan into an economic leader in biotechnology, information technology, and advanced manufacturing. With over 500,000 employees in the high-tech industry, the region is also home to the Big Three automakers in the US, Chrysler, General Motors, and Ford. The metropolitan statistical area of Memphis includes 3 states (Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi) and 8 counties, and it is the 4^th city in the US with the highest income rate per citizen. The average wage is $48,000 annually. With over 660,000 inhabitants, Memphis is also the largest city in Tennessee. Ideally intersected by 2 interstate highways and 5 railroads, the metropolis is perfect for the shipping and transportation industry.  In addition, Memphis is home to 3 companies included in Fortune 500: International Paper, FedEx Corporation, and AutoZone Incorporated.
The list of US cities with the highest income is completed by Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX on the 4^th place with an annual wage of $55,000, Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC on 5^th with $51,000, and Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN on 6^th with $54,000.  7^th place goes to Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos, TX with $50,000, and 8^th is attributed to Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, WA.
