Celine Dion Lists a Private Island in Canada for $29.3 Million

 
Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer Celine Dion and her manager-husband Rene Angelil have put their private island home in Quebec, Canada, on the market.  Asking price for this unbelievably posh estate?  A mere $29.3 million.  This makes it one of the top 5 most expensive homes in all of Canada.
So just what does $29 million buy these days?  For starters the gated island, located in Gagnon approximately 15 minutes from downtown Montreal, is just under 20 acres and boasts a private bridge and a security station to keep overzealous fans at bay.
The home itself is a six bedroom, 24,000 square foot mansion built in the French-Normandy chateau style.  It includes six full and three half baths.  The home also contains a foyer with inlaid marble floors, three living rooms, a family room with fireplace, a handsome wood-paneled library, a custom and luxuriously appointed kitchen, a dining room that seats 18, a home gym, a game room, and an office.  The massive master suites include his and her bedrooms each with their own bath, walk-in closets and balconies overlooking the water.
There is also a sumptuous vaulted stone wine cellar with an integrated tasting room.  And in case you need help navigating through all this splendor, there’s an elevator.  The $29 million asking price also includes all the furnishings and appointments, including the antique furniture, artwork, linens, china, glassware and flatware.

The couple has decided to sell their opulent compound because they are spending more time in the United States at their Jupiter Island mansion in Florida where their 11 year old son, Rene-Charles, attends school.  They are looking to buy a much smaller property when they return to Quebec for visits.
Ms. Dion, who was born in Quebec, is considered one of Canada’s national treasures.  She has built an incredible fortune from her almost celestial singing voice, including a lucrative Las Vegas show and multiple platinum-selling albums.  She holds the record for being the best-selling female music artist of all time, and has sold over 200 million albums worldwide.
Dion and Angelil met in 1980 when he became her manager.  At the time she was 12 and he was 38.  They began dating in 1987 and were married in 1994.  The couple has three children.
