Building off the success of the past five San Diego Beer Weeks, the San Diego Brewers Guild is ready for San Diego Beer Week 2015 (SDBW), on November 5-15. San Diego Beer Week is a ten-day celebration inspiring people to drink local, craft beer and promoting San Diego’s thriving brewing culture with multiple events happening across the county.
San Diego is home to more than 100 breweries and has gained an international reputation for brewing award-winning beers. The city’s breweries brought home more medals at the 2010 World Beer Cup than the traditional beer countries of England, Germany, and Belgium combined and won 19 medals at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival. With the popularity of craft beer on the rise, San Diego is poised to be the capital of craft beer tourism in the United States.
These are all reasons why you can’t miss the 13th Annual San Diego Brewers Guild Festival at the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego. This two day event is the official kickoff of San Diego Beer Week. Enjoy samples from more than 50 San Diego County breweries! The event raises funds for local charities and the San Diego Brewers Guild. On Friday, November 6, your VIP ticket will allow you to rub elbows with some of San Diego’s award-winning brewers and see why San Diego beer is taking over palates everywhere. This exclusive event will showcase San Diego’s finest, rare, and specialty beers from local breweries, including offerings brewed just for this event. All-inclusive ticket includes unlimited beer samples offered throughout the evening coupled with unlimited food samples from local craft-beer friendly restaurants. On Saturday, November 7, you can enjoy the Guild Festival with a commemorative tasting cup and unlimited beer samples. The event showcases San Diego County’s finest craft breweries. Food will be available for sale from local, craft-beer friendly restaurants and food trucks. And to top it all off, musical entertainment will be provided by some of San Diego’s most talented musicians.
Another kick-off event is the annual breakfast party on November 6. Executive Chef Tausha Lopez is cooking up an extravagant morning buffet to start the week of beery festivities with a bang, and “Dr.” Bill Sysak is providing a stellar lineup of rare and hard-to-find brews to fill up your commemorative glass. This morning meal will be a fantastic beginning to one of the best weeks you’ll ever have. Your $65 ticket gets you fifteen 3oz tasters, a commemorative glass, 40 phenomenal rare beers to choose from, delicious food prepared at multiple stations, and live jazz.
Bookending the week of brew mania is The Beer Garden at the Lodge at Torrey Pines. There is no better setting for the closing event of San Diego Beer Week than on the Arroyo Terrace of the Lodge at Torrey Pines. The Beer Garden brings together the best of San Diego’s breweries and local chefs to celebrate the craft beer movement. With 24 breweries and 12 chefs, Beer Garden is a truly unique and delicious beer and food pairing event. Each admission includes unlimited tasters of beer and food. The event benefits Chef Celebration Foundation and San Diego Brewers Guild.
