A Picnic in The Park with SFC

tech1Saturday afternoon we attended Santa Fe Christian Schools’ 1st Annual – Middle School –  All Family Picnic.  The event was located at San Dieguito Park and although it was a very warm day, 80 degrees or so, you could feel the cool ocean breezes. Both kids and parents had a great time socializing outside of school and for me personally the park brings back many great memories.  We moved just down the street from San Dieguito Park when I was 12 years old.  The park is very large, 125 acres, and I have been to many great events, gatherings and fun family outings there.  In fact, we have had two family portraits taken at San Dieguito Park because there are so many diverse and beautiful settings.  But I digress……….. I want to tell you about another great school for the residents of Rancho Santa Fe and San Diego County ….

Santa Fe Christian Schools is a coeducational, independent college preparatory school serving 995 students kindergarten through 12th grade. The lower school serves grades K-5, middle school grades 6-8, and upper school grades 9-12.
Santa Fe Christian was founded in 1977 and has been well known in the community as offering an academically challenging curriculum in a Christian environment.  In addition to academics, SFC offers a very strong athletic program.  They not only teach the skills of the sport but also hold the athletes to a high standard, believing good sportsmanship is as important as winning. They do win often and have had many athletes recruited to play for college.
The Middle School and Upper School campuses have been extensively remodeled. In addition to the classrooms,  the athletic field, student activity center, state-of-the-art library, technology center and science center have also been remodeled.

As a mom, one of the things I value most at SFC is the focus on the importance of community:  teaching the children how to give back, to be a good citizen and to handle conflict resolution.  These skills are oftentimes either overlooked or devalued in families and schools. I believe they are imperative for our children’s future development.
