While celebrating Independence Day at home in Rancho Santa Fe is always an excellent option, sometimes it’s fun to get out and experience this exuberant holiday with your neighbors. Fortunately, there’s plenty of fun to be had this Fourth of July in and around Rancho Santa Fe. We’ve compiled some of our favorite places to celebrate the holiday, so pack a picnic, load the family into the car, and have a blast!
Red, White, and BOOM!
Head to LEGOLAND California in nearby Carlsbad for holiday fun for the whole family! After spending the day experiencing the magic of the park, cap off the evening with a spectacular fireworks display set to patriotic music. There are several viewing locations throughout the park. All Red, White, and BOOM activities are included with the cost of admission.
San Diego County Fair
If fried food, fair rides, and carnival games sound like fun to you, then head to the San Diego County Fair this 4th of July! Located at the nearby Del Mar Fairgrounds, July 4th is the closing day of this popular destination – so it will go out with a bang! The aerial show begins at approximately 9 pm. It includes more than 3,600 displays including titanium flash salutes, color-changing aerial displays, and streaking comets.
Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration
Want to celebrate the holiday as they did in the olden days? Then take a trip to nearby Poway to experience their Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration. This fun festival features western re-enactors, patriotic entertainment, old-fashioned games, train displays, and kids’ crafts. They’re open from 10 am to 4 pm. Make it an easy day by taking a shuttle to the festival grounds. They are available from both Poway City Hall and the Poway Adult School.
Big Bay Boom
If you really want to be where the action is, then head to the largest event in San Diego County. The Annual Big Bay Boom Fourth of July Fireworks show is launched from four barges in North San Diego Bay and can be viewed from multiple locations along the bay. The show begins at approximately 9 pm. The best places to catch it are from Coronado Landing, Shelter Island, Harbor Island, and the Embarcadero.
Rancho Santa Fe Fourth of July Parade & Picnic
Finally, you don’t have to go far to enjoy the holiday with your friends and neighbors! In fact, you can have fun right in your own backyard! The Rancho Santa Fe Fourth of July Parade & Picnic is the best place in town to celebrate the holiday. The parade begins at 12:15 pm at the R. Roger Rowe School parking lot and loops through the heart of the village on La Flecha and Paseo Delicias. At 1:30 pm enjoy a picnic and concert.
