Join the fun at the Maritime Museum of San Diego for a spectacular 4th of July!
This Independence Day celebration includes some of the best fireworks viewing on San Diego Bay, and the chance to explore one of the most amazing collections of historic ships and exhibits anywhere. You can also witness the extraordinary awesomeness of the Napoleonic Cannons being fired as the Maritime Museum of San Diego rings in the start of the fireworks show. In addition, firing will occur numerous times during the day.
There are many ways to enjoy Independence Day at the Maritime Museum. Both the picnic dinner and fireworks cruise includes admission to the museum and its art exhibits. For those looking to just view the fireworks from this unique venue the museum is also offering a discounted fireworks only viewing admission after 8:30 p.m. of $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 3 through 12.
A general admission ticket to the Maritime Museum lets you explore all of the available world class ships, except Berkeley’s upper deck and the Californian. Watch the fireworks from the Star of India, or the HMS Surprise, or the West viewing platform. Paradise Patio, open on the Floating Pier, offers mixed drinks, cold beer, and soda.
4th of July Picnic Dinner: The observation deck of the museum’s historic 1898 steam ferry Berkeley provides a spectacular view of the fireworks show over San Diego Bay and is reserved for guests participating in this delicious catered picnic dinner. Dinner is $35 for adults and $18 for children 3-12 with two seatings to choose from (first seating 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., second seating 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.). Independence Day Picnic Dinner aboard the Berkeley features BBQ chicken, burgers, coleslaw, potato salad, corn on the cob, ice cold watermelon, and double fudge brownies for dessert.

Note that the final menu has yet to be determined and is subject to change: Picnic dinner includes grilled chicken quarters, 1/4 lb burgers, coleslaw, potato salad, ice cold watermelon, and double fudge brownies for dessert. First Picnic Dinner seating will be from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Second Picnic Dinner seating will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
4th Front Row Seats Fireworks aboard PILOT: Enjoy the fireworks from on the Bay! A unique and fun 4th of July adventure awaits you aboard Pilot. Bring a jacket, comfortable clothes, your camera, a friend or two, and celebrate the 4th with the museum. They will have light snacks, sodas and water for your enjoyment. Board Pilot (the 1914 pilot boat) for an evening cruise on San Diego Bay culminating in one of the best viewing platforms around for the San Diego Bay Fireworks Spectacular. Boarding check-in ends at 7:30 p.m. Returns after fireworks show at approximately 9:45 p.m. Please note that Pilot doesn’t have restroom facilities.
