October is simply one of the best months here in Southern California. Not only are we headed into the cooler, crisp days of fall, but there are also so many wonderful festivals and events happening this month. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite can’t miss happenings, from relaxing wine and yoga programs to festive Halloween parties. Be sure to mark your calendars for at least one of these fabulous events!
Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society Speaker Series
On Saturday, October 12, join the Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society for their monthly “Coffee in the Courtyard” Speaker Series. The event happens at the La Flecha House, Rancho Santa Fe’s first village residence designed by Lillian Rice. Author Russell Low, MD, a well-known lecturer on Chinese-American history will be giving a presentation entitled “Chinese Contribution to the Transcontinental Railroad.” Refreshments will be served. Tickets are $15 for RSFHS members and $20 for non-members.
Party Arty, Tacos & Tequila
On Sunday, October 13, join ArtReach for their seventh annual Party Arty. This year’s event takes place in a Rancho Santa Fe home and features artisanal tequila, gourmet food, and creative inspiration. It’s an afternoon full of games, auction prizes, and craft cocktails that supports the mission of ArtReach. This organization takes high-quality art lessons to San Diego County schools with no arts education in their curriculum. To put it another way, you can party with a purpose! Tickets are $120 in advance and $150 at the door.
Uncork & Unwind
Are you looking for a little relaxing “me” time? Then head to The Spa at The Inn at Rancho Santa on Sunday, October 20, for their monthly Uncork & Unwind series. You’ll take part in an 80-minute yoga class that will enhance your senses of taste and smell. After class, enjoy a tasting of three red wines, two white wines, and one sparkling wine. The class is suitable for newcomers and experienced yogis alike. Tickets are $40, and $5 from each ticket will be donated to a designated charity.
Fall Critter Camp
Are you wondering what to do with the kids over Fall Break? Look no further, the Helen Woodward Animal Center has you covered! Their Fall Critter Camp is specially designed so that kids can learn about and develop compassion for animals. As a result, kids get hands-on experience with various types of animals, including frogs, chinchillas, ducks, goats, and more. The camp is suitable for kids ages preschool through 6th grade. Camps take place October 21-25 and October 28-November 1. Prices are $58 per day for preschoolers and $77 per day for Kindergarten through 6th grade. Some discounts are available.
